Ok, we're in an airport, so start there.
We had very standard old school burgers. Dense mince but tasty. Better than we expected, considering the lack of choice once past security and customs.
Don't be in a hurry... There's only a single waitress for all the tables, but very friendly and caring.
View of the runways keep you entertained. -

When your flight is delayed by 3 hours and you have absolutely nothing to do, you eat. I wanted to go to Tim Horton's but nobody was there, even at 10am!
I was starving and needed breakfast so I went here. There are 2 options for breakfast- a traditional breakfast platter (eggs, ham/bacon, toast, fried potatoes) or a breakfast sandwich. Both cost about $11.
I went for the platter. It was ok... nothing outstanding but not bad. The coffee was ok too. It was freshly brewed.
Service was friendly. I sat at the bar, it wasn't busy at all. -

The seafood chowder is the best I have had in my three bowls in Nova Scotia. Flavor, ingredients, and overall quality. It is airport food, do the price is much higher.
If you want a quality bowl of seafood chowder before heading out of Halifax, stop here. -

For an airport restaurant/bar in a teeny tiny airport without many options, I was pretty impressed with Spirit of the Maritimes. The menu has something for everyone, even those of us who try to be healthy while traveling. I ordered a salad with shrimp and was very happy with the bright, fresh greens (a mix of mesclun and spinach!), plus assorted vegetables and pumpkin seeds. The shrimp were enormous and super fresh. My only dressing option was the house-made honey mustard but it was really good and packed a lot of flavor. My bloody Mary was also spot-on.
My only gripe would be that there was just one bartender to service the whole place, and it was clear that she was feeling a little swamped at times. The prices seemed fair for drinks and food. This place beats out most airport eateries, in my opinion. -

Lobster cooked perfectly. Chowder is okay - typical US tasting chowder. Not the awesome Maritime chowder that should be had here.
$18.99 + up charge for chowder instead of fries.
